Godzilla: The New Heroes is a one-shot comic book from IDW Publishing. Released on Free Comic Book Day on May 3, 2025, it gives the first glimpse at IDW's Kai-Sei Era continuity, though it features no original stories of its own. Rather, its 30 pages are dedicated mostly to previews of the then-forthcoming first issues of Godzilla (2025), Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone, and Starship Godzilla.

The FIRST LOOK at IDW’s new Godzilla universe. In July 2025, a bold new Godzilla story is coming… but you can get your first look here! Godzilla: The New Heroes FCBD 2025 features an original ten-page prelude to the new IDW Godzilla continuity, as well as preview pages for other books set in the new Godzilla shared universe. Each of these books is a fresh exploration on what it means to be a Godzilla comic — from a group of mercenaries that fly through space in Mechagodzilla to a strange wasteland inhabited by a half-kaiju, half-human freak, to a bold superhero take on G-Force. A new era of Godzilla comics starts here![1]

Contents
The main body of Godzilla: The New Heroes consists of the 10-page prologue from Godzilla #1 (spanning pages 2–11), the first five pages of Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone #1 (pages 13–17, with a half-title on page 12), and the first five pages of Starship Godzilla #1 (pages 20–24, with a half-title on page 18 and a textless spacer on page 19). The only additions made by the previews are a cliffhanger text box on the final page of each comic's segment; Godzilla's reads, "Next! A New Beginning... at the end of humanity—in Godzilla #1!", Escape the Deadzone's reads, "TO BE CONTINUED IN GODZILLA: ESCAPE THE DEADZONE #1!", and Starship Godzilla's reads, "TO BE CONTINUED IN STARSHIP GODZILLA #1".
These previews are followed, in order, by: a short introduction to the Kai-Sei Era by IDW editor Jake Williams titled "This Is It. The New IDW Godzilla Universe."; a page of concept art of Godzilla's head from Godzilla, the Wanderer from Escape the Deadzone, and Ilsa from Starship Godzilla; advertisements for Godzilla Library Collection, Vol. 1 and the trade paperbacks of Godzilla: War for Humanity, Godzilla vs. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers II, and Godzilla vs. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers; and red-tinted textless art from the final page of the Starship Godzilla preview.

Trivia
- Godzilla: The New Heroes is the first Godzilla comic created specifically for distribution on Free Comic Book Day.
- Godzilla's design on the cover does not match the one in the comic itself, as the latter was not yet finalized when the cover was completed.[2] Like past Godzillas drawn by Oliver Ono for IDW Publishing comics, his tail sports prominent dorsal plates.
- The first two katakana characters in Godzilla's Japanese name, go (ゴ) and ji (ジ), can be glimpsed on a sign on the far right side of the comic's cover.
- Despite the comic's description advertising the Godzilla (2025) prologue as "original" to it, said prologue was ultimately included in that series' first issue, leaving this book with almost no exclusive content.
