Medical Jet Jaguar
|
Medical Jet Jaguar (メディカルジェットジャガー is a first aid Medikaru Jetto Jyagā)robot that first appeared in the 1997 Godzilla television series Godzilla Island. Medical Jet Jaguar was one of three similar giant robots operated by G-Guard on Godzilla Island, along with Jet Jaguar and Fire Fighter Jet Jaguar. Operated by one pilot, the robot helped injured monsters and also saw each monster for a regular check-up, ensuring each was healthy. Medical Jet Jaguar lacked weapons, but was equipped with a host of materials needed for its job, including a giant stethoscope and hypodermic needle. The machine was a favorite vehicle for Beisuke Jinguji's daughter, Misato Jinguji, during her time on the island.
Design
Medical Jet Jaguar is simply a completely white version of a 1993 Bandai figure of Jet Jaguar, with the exception of a red cross on its chest.

SpaceGodzilla's Spirit
After Junior found Godzilla collapsed on the ground and alerted Torema, G-Guard Commander Beisuke Jinguji ordered Medical Jet Jaguar into action. Medical Jet Jaguar landed next to Godzilla and scanned him for ailments but could not diagnose the problem; unknown to all present, Godzilla was in the early stages of being possessed by SpaceGodzilla's ghost. Medical Jet Jaguar then picked Godzilla up and flew him to the Monster Hospital, though briefly struggled due to Godzilla's sheer weight. G-Guard later realized Godzilla was possessed by SpaceGodzilla after looking at a photo taken during Medical Jet Jaguar's check-up which showed SpaceGodzilla's ghost behind Godzilla.
Jinguji later ordered Medical Jet Jaguar to be reprogrammed for combat when the possessed Godzilla rampaged through the island, though Torema pointed out that this was a useless idea since Medical Jet Jaguar wouldn't last any longer than those who had already been defeated.
Goodbye, Torema
Medical Jet Jaguar watched over the deceptive Kamacuras at the Monster Hospital after he passed out before awaking to tell G-Guard his false story: Zagreth had called in one hundred space monsters to meet on Matango Island and they had tried to kill him when he refused. After Kamacuras and his ally Mecha-King Ghidorah attacked the base and Godzilla Island's monsters when Godzilla and Torema left to check out this story, Medical Jet Jaguar watched over the injured King Caesar alongside Junior.
When the Xilien plot involving Kamacuras and Mecha-King Ghidorah failed and Torema left to pursue Zagreth, Medical Jet Jaguar watched alongside all the other monsters and robots on the island to bid her farewell.
Bonus
Medical Jet Jaguar appeared in a flashback as Beisuke Jinguji and Lucas discussed Godzilla's various battles, with the flashback in question showing Medical Jet Jaguar inspecting Godzilla before anyone realized he had been possessed by SpaceGodzilla's ghost.
Introducing Misato
After Beisuke's daughter, kaiju vet Misato Jinguji, arrived on Godzilla Island and greeted all the monster inhabitants, she piloted Medical Jet Jaguar so she could do check-ups on them, though their reluctance to do so led to her chasing them around in Medical Jet Jaguar. Misato later used the robot to ask Godzilla what the secret of said island was while he was relaxing in the Hot Spring, though he did not know either, with the two of them watching as a mysterious missile flew towards the island from outer space. She later arrived at the site where the missile had landed and warned the monsters not to touch it as she planned to defuse it herself, though Junior knocked it over as she was arguing with her father. As a strange yellow smoke began billowing out of the missile, Medical Jet Jaguar and all the monsters fled at Misato's recommendation as she collected a sample of the smoke and returned to the base.
Later, when King Ghidorah attacked Godzilla Island after the monsters had been exhausted by prolonged dancing brought on the dance-globin smoke, Misato piloted Medical Jet Jaguar to a battle between Godzilla and King Ghidorah. The robot released a puff of dance-globin smoke which infected King Ghidorah and she played music with the massive radio now attached to the robot's back, causing King Ghidorah to uncontrollably dance and subsequently retreat.
Second Generation Mothra
Misato piloted Medical Jet Jaguar to make sure the monsters were unhurt and checked out the site of the recently-erupted Mt. Gorath, where she found an egg that had been hidden by its mother, Mother Mothra, long ago. After some brief checks, Medical Jet Jaguar transported the egg to the Monster Hospital for further checks but then decided to transport it with the assistance of Mechagodzilla and Moguera to Mothra's Cave where its brother Mothra Leo lived. A week later, Misato arrived in Medical Jet Jaguar and played Mothra's Song to try to help the unhatched Mothra emerge from its egg, with the egg showing stronger vital signs in response. However, the evil Xilien pawns Destoroyah and Megalon kidnapped the egg despite the best attempts of Mothra Leo, Mechagodzilla, Moguera, and Godzilla, with Misato piloting Medical Jet Jaguar in an attempt to stop Megalon, only to be knocked down by the villainous monster. Though they were too late to stop the evil pair, Medical Jet Jaguar soon recovered and sprayed painkiller to ease the pain from Mothra Leo's injuries before presumably returning to the G-Guard base.
Later, after Misato found the now-hatched Baby Mothra at Matango Island and returned her back to Godzilla Island, Medical Jet Jaguar cared for the hatchling in the Monster Hospital before being webbed up by her the next day, the result of the larva being tricked into thinking Battra was her parent.
Anguirus
Misato Jinguji piloted Medical Jet Jaguar to perform a health check-up on all of Godzilla Island's monsters, all of whom got into a queue to do so. After checking King Caesar's heartbeat, she noticed Gorosaurus and Baragon disrupting the line and tried to get them to stop, though was unable to do so before Baragon accidently pushed Junior into Anguirus's spikes, causing the young monster pain. After Anguirus became upset and walked away, Misato chased after him in Medical Jet Jaguar to try to make him feel better but was unsuccessful.
SpaceGodzilla's Spirit Again
Beisuke Jinguji prepared to send Medical Jet Jaguar to the Demon Forest to help Gorosaurus but was briefly distracted by the Monster Shrine being set on fire. Gorosaurus was later transported to the Monster Hospital, presumably with Medical Jet Jaguar's help.
Lucas
After Godzilla shot down the out-of-control Mechagodzilla with atomic breath, a similarly malfunctioning Medical Jet Jaguar attacked him alongside Moguera. Anguirus, Baragon, and Gorosaurus all came to assist Godzilla but Mechagodzilla was able to get back up and join in the brawl.
To make the situation even worse, a laser cannon intercepted the brawl and fired upon all involved, though Misato was able to hack into the computer system and reverse the actions of the Xilien spy Cameron, allowing Godzilla and the other monsters to escape as the machines all froze, including Medical Jet Jaguar. Jinguji realized he could control Mechagodzilla again and so the machines all returned to G-Guard's control, though they were not used when G-Guard and the biological monsters surrounded the occupied G-Guard base.

Trivia
- While Godzilla Island features multiple Jet Jaguar units, the only time that multiple Jet Jaguars are seen together occurs in episode 125, where Medical Jet Jaguar is seen standing next to Fire Fighter Jet Jaguar.
- Medical Jet Jaguar has received multiple figures, with the first not being made until a decade after Godzilla Island ceased airing. The first was part of Bandai's Movie Monster Series which was sold exclusively through the magazine Hyper Hobby in 2007, while two others were released by Mondo in 2022, and Super7 in 2023.
- In a 2024 podcast interview, author Johnny Parker II revealed that he had wanted to include Medical Jet Jaguar in Godzilla Rivals: Mothra Vs. M.O.G.U.E.R.A. as a piloted mecha. The concept, however, was turned down by Toho, resulting in the inclusion of the traditional Jet Jaguar instead.[1]
