Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla

Masahiko Shimizu was with his brother Keisuke when they watched a traditional Okinawan ceremony performed by Nami Kunigami, a descendant of the royal house of Azumi. As he was taking pictures of her performance, she suddenly froze and collapsed. The two brothers proceeded to check if she was alright, only for her grandfather Tengan to push them aside. Nami claimed to have seen a vision of a monster destroying the city and trampling all who attempted to flee. After leaving, the brothers had a brief discussion about the Azumi descendants and the prophecy before Keisuke dropped Masahiko off at the entrance to the Gyokusen Cave. While exploring the cave, Masahiko discovered a peculiar type of metal that he would later bring to Professor Hideto Miyajima’s laboratory at Mount Fuji. The professor identified the metal as Space Titanium. An earthquake then struck the lab, something that Miyajima’s daughter Ikuko noted as a common occurrence for 10 days straight. The next day, Mt. Fuji suddenly erupted and expelled a giant rock containing a monster, which Masahiko identified as Godzilla.

Keisuke drove to the area to make sure that his brother was safe, watching Godzilla battle and defeat Anguirus along the way. When he arrived at the laboratory, he too had discovered a piece of metal that Miyajima identified as Space Titanium, the intrigued professor asked Masahiko to take him to Gyokusen Cave after he took a closer look at Godzilla. Masahiko traveled to Tokyo with Keizuke, Miyajima and Ikuko where they viewed Godzilla attacking the port area of the city. Suddenly, a second Godzilla emerged and fought the other one, revealing Space Titanium underneath its counterpart’s skin. Miyajima concluded that the Godzilla from Mt. Fuji was a cyborg imposter, a Mechagodzilla. With its cover blown, Mechagodzilla shed the rest of its disguise and revealed its true robotic form. As the two monsters’ beams collided, an explosion knocked Godzilla back into Tokyo Bay and damaged Mechagodzilla’s head controls. Mechagodzilla flew away to undergo repairs while Godzilla vanished, leaving blood in Tokyo Bay’s water. Believing that Mechagodzilla was remotely controlled by aliens, Miyajima asked Masahiko and Ikuko to accompany him to Gyokusen Cave in Okinawa while Keisuke went back to meet with Saeko Kanagusuku and his uncle, Professor Wakura.

As Masahiko and the others searched the cave, they were captured by two mysterious men in silver jumpsuits. All three were brought into a secret liar inside the cave and introduced to Kuronuma, leader of the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens' invasion force. Masahiko and Ikuko were taken to an execution chamber, Kuronuma promised Miyajima that their lives would be spared if he repaired Mechagodzilla. When Miyajima completed Mechagodzilla’s repairs, he was betrayed by Kuronuma and placed into the chamber as well. Hot steam was released inside of the room, causing immense heat intended to boil them alive. They were saved when Keisuke and INTERPOL agent Nanbara infiltrated the base and opened the execution chamber’s door, this was nearly halted by two aliens before Nanbara shot and killed them both. All the humans managed to escape the base and headed towards Keisuke’s car; Nanbara anticipated a trap and used a wire to turn the ignition on from outside the vehicle, activating a bomb planted by the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens. Nanbara told the others to head to Azumi Castle in order to awaken King Caesar while he would go back into the aliens' base to deal with them. However, Masahiko and Professor Miyajima insisted on accompanying him, the latter feeling remorse for helping the aliens and being the only one able to destroy Mechagodzilla’s head controls. All three returned to the base, with Nanbara killing a guard to gain further entry. Despite failing to stop Mechagodzilla from being deployed, Miyajima realised that they could still stop the cyborg by destroying the control room. As they entered the control room, they were trapped by the aliens’ security system. The men were handcuffed and forced to watch Mechagodzilla battle King Caesar, later joined by Godzilla, on a monitor. When Mechagodzilla was destroyed by Godzilla, Kuronuma and two of his underlings were killed by Nanbara, who managed to free himself with the help of Miyajima and throw the two halves of the professor’s special metal pipe at opposite ends of the aliens' computer, causing it to malfunction. As the base began to self-destruct, Nanbara unlocked Miyajima and Masahiko's handcuffs, the three escaped just before the base exploded. Masahiko reunited with his brother when the statue of King Caesar was returned to its rightful place at Azumi Castle.
