- Professor Hideto Miyajima: “I must go. Even though I did it to save my daughter’s life, I still cooperated with them. I have sold my soul to the devil.”
- Keisuke Shimizu: “But you didn’t have any choice that time. Don’t risk your life again.”
- Professor Hideto Miyajima: “No! I worked on the Mechagodzilla, I’m the only one that knows how to destroy it. Can’t you see I’m right?”

Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla
Professor Hideto Miyajima was a physicist who'd previously won a Nobel Prize. He had a laboratory at Mount Fuji and a daughter named Ikuko. Masahiko Shimizu visited Miyajima’s laboratory after he'd discovered a strange type of metal while exploring the Gyokusen Cave. After studying the metal, the professor identified it as Space Titanium. An earthquake then struck the lab, something that Ikuko noted as a common occurrence for 10 days straight. The next day, Mt. Fuji suddenly erupted and expelled a giant rock containing a monster which Masahiko identified as Godzilla. Masahiko's brother Keisuke arrived after the creature's battle with Anguirus to reveal that he too discovered a piece of Space Titanium. Intrigued, Miyajima asked Masahiko to take him to Gyokusen Cave after taking a closer look at Godzilla. It was at this moment that Keisuke accidentally knocked over Miyajima’s pipe. After noting its unusual appearance, Miyajima explained that when both sides were separated it generated magnetic waves that destroyed both positive and negative electrodes, demonstrating with an oscillograph. Miyajima traveled to Tokyo with Keizuke, Masahiko, and Ikuko, where they witnessed Godzilla attacking the port area of the city. Suddenly, a second Godzilla emerged and fought the other, revealing Space Titanium underneath its counterpart's skin. Miyajima concluded that the Godzilla from Mt. Fuji was a cyborg imposter, a Mechagodzilla. With its cover blown, Mechagodzilla shed the rest of its disguise to reveal its true robotic form. The monsters renewed their battle until their beams collided, triggering an explosion which knocked Godzilla back into Tokyo Bay and damaged Mechagodzilla's head controls. Mechagodzilla flew away to undergo repairs while Godzilla vanished, leaving blood in the water. Believing that Mechagodzilla was remotely controlled by aliens, Miyajima asked Masahiko and Ikuko to accompany him to Gyokusen Cave in Okinawa while Keisuke went back to meet with Saeko Kanagusuku and his uncle, Professor Wakura.
As Miyajima and the others searched the cave, they were captured by two mysterious men in silver jumpsuits, causing him to drop his pipe in the process. All three were brought into a secret lair inside the cave and introduced to Kuronuma, leader of the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens' invasion force. Masahiko and Ikuko were taken to an execution chamber, while Kuronuma promised Miyajima that their lives would be spared if he repaired Mechagodzilla. When Miyajima completed Mechagodzilla's repairs, he refused to drink with Kuronuma and immediately demanded that he release the others. Kuronuma instead threw the professor into the chamber as well. Hot steam was released inside of the room, causing immense heat intended to boil them alive. They were saved when Keisuke and INTERPOL agent Nanbara infiltrated the base and opened the execution chamber’s door. This was nearly halted by two aliens before Nanbara shot and killed them both. All the humans managed to escape the base and headed towards Keisuke’s car; Nanbara anticipated a trap and used a wire to turn the ignition on from outside the vehicle, activating a bomb planted by the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens. Nanbara told the others to head to Azumi Castle in order to awaken King Caesar, while he would go back into the aliens' base to deal with them. However, Masahiko and Professor Miyajima insisted on accompanying him, the latter feeling remorse for helping the aliens and being the only one able to destroy Mechagodzilla's head controls. After Keisuke returned his pipe, the three men returned to the base, with Nanbara killing a guard to gain further entry. Despite failing to stop Mechagodzilla from being deployed, Miyajima realized that they could still stop the cyborg by destroying the control room. As they entered the control room, they were trapped by the aliens' security system. The men were handcuffed and forced to watch Mechagodzilla fight King Caesar on a monitor, Kuronuma dryly thanking Miyajima for his repairs on Mechagodzilla. Just before Godzilla joined the battle against Mechagodzilla, Nanbara and Miyajima started to develop a plan to free the former. When Mechagodzilla was destroyed, Nanbara picked the lock on his handcuffs and freed his hands, going on to throw the two halves of Miyajima's pipe at opposite ends of the aliens' computer, causing it to malfunction. Nanbara then shot and killed the remaining Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens in the room, including Kuronuma. As the base began to self-destruct, Nanbara unlocked Miyajima and Masahiko's handcuffs, the three escaping just before the base exploded.
Miyajima’s pipe
Professor Miyajima’s unique pipe was created in his spare time; the metal bowl contained a fictional element called “astanopkaron”. When both sides were separated, it could generate magnetic waves that destroyed both positive and negative electrodes. Miyajima’s initials were engraved in red on the metal bowl.
