HarperCollins Publishers, LLC is a British-American publishing company that is regarded as one of the "Big Five" English language publishing houses. It was created in 1990 when Harper & Row was acquired by NewsCorp, and subsequently merged with the Scottish publisher William Collins & Sons, which had been purchased by the company in 1987. Both Harper and Collins continue as subsidiary imprints of the larger company.
